After starting his career in banking and international business, Michael joined World Vision which began a career in the for-purpose sector that has spanned over 35 years.
Previously Queensland State Manager and then National Operations Manager for World Vision Australia, Michael became CEO of Life Education Queensland in 2006. Since then, the organisation has increased its turnover from $600,000 to $6 million, and the team has grown from 12 to more than 50 staff, providing vital health and wellbeing education to 180,000 Queensland children each year.
In 2006 Michael was one of four finalists for Queensland Australian of the Year in recognition of his contribution to the alleviation of global poverty.
